Exploring Autumn

We went to find 'the apple pie' tree, in our school grounds. We put on our wellies and went up to our orchard carrying baskets, to collect apples. We had lots of fun picking them off the trees. There were many on the floor too, but we found out that some of the apples on the floor were rotten. When we stood on them they made a very funny sound.

We used the apples we collected to make delicious apple crumble. We took great care using the cooking utensils to cut and slice the apple. We weighed the flour and butter to make sure that we put the correct amount into the bowl. Miss Bents cooked the apple for us and then we topped it with the crumble. Once it finished cooking in the oven we had to wait to let it cool and then we had it for snack with some delicious custard. We all worked well together, taking turns and waiting patiently. We all agreed it was the most delicious crumble we had ever eaten.

We made 'apple doughnuts'. We used an apple corer to take out the middle of the apple, it made a hole all the way through the apple. Our teachers sliced the apple so that we all had a slice with a hole. Then it was the fun bit; we decorated our apple slice with chocolate or biscotti and then decorated it how we wanted. It was lots of fun and they were delicious.

Magical Moments at Forest School This Term! 🍂✨

This term at our Forest School, the enchantment of autumn has truly come alive! 🍁 Our young adventurers have been busy embracing the beautiful outdoors, exploring nature, and unleashing their creativity in the most delightful ways!

🪄 Fairy Wands: Armed with our imagination and a handful of colourful autumn leaves, we crafted stunning fairy wands, decorating them with confetti made from our very own leaf cuttings. Each wand is a unique creation, representing the magic of the season!

🔆 Conker Collections: The hunt was on as we collected shiny conkers! These delightful little treasures were transformed into gleaming shells for our clay snails, fostering a love for both nature and creativity.

🐛 Leaf Caterpillars: Our garden turned into a bustling playground, where we ran around gathering leaves to create adorable leaf caterpillars! Using pipe cleaners, our little ones threaded these vibrant leaves, watching their creations come to life amidst laughter and joy.

At Forest School, every activity not only encourages creativity and exploration but also instils a sense of wonder and respect for our natural world.

Join us as we celebrate the magic of learning outside the classroom. Here’s to many more adventures ahead! 🌟

During our pumpkin exploration, children have had the chance to:

  • Carve Pumpkins: Exploring the pumpkins we used the tools carefully to cut and make marks as we used our senses to describe what we could smell, feel as we explored the inside of the pumpkins.
  • Tasty Treats: After our carving session, we enjoyed some delicious homemade pumpkin pie. It's a tasty way to learn about nutrition while celebrating the harvest season! The pies were delicious.🥧
  • Hedgehog Creations:  Using the seeds from our pumpkins to create adorable hedgehog spikes, our budding artists crafted clay hedgehogs, using nature and creativity in their learning. 🦔✨
  • Numeracy Fun: In our numeracy lessons, we incorporated the theme of pumpkins through the fun rhyme "5 Little Pumpkins". We enjoyed counting with the small pumpkins taking turns and listening carefully  to a delightful story about our favourite autumn squash!

Our autumn festivities foster a deep connection to nature, creativity, and mathematics, showing that learning can happen anywhere—especially in our colourful classrooms!
