Festival and celebrations

This week we have been learning about Poppy Day and the importance of Remembrance โค๏ธ๐ŸŒบ. The children listened to a story that helped us understand why poppies are a special symbol, and we explored real poppies together ๐Ÿ“–๐ŸŒบ.

We enjoyed decorating biscuits to look like poppies ๐Ÿช๐ŸŽจ and created beautiful field scenes using creative printing techniques — wrapping string around cardboard tubes and using apple halves to make the poppy heads ๐Ÿงต๐ŸŽ๐ŸŒบ.

The children showed great respect during the two-minute silence โณ๐Ÿคซ as we thought about the people we remember on this special day.

November has been a wonderfully busy month in our class! ๐ŸŽ‰

We explored the exciting tradition of Bonfire Night ๐ŸŽ† and learned why it is celebrated each year. The children enjoyed creating vibrant night time prints, using bright colours to show fireworks bursting across the sky. ๐ŸŽ‡
We also created writing patterns in colourful sand, making swirling shapes and lines that looked just like fireworks exploding! ๐ŸŒˆโœจ

One of the highlights was making our own edible sparklers! โœจ Using breadsticks, chocolate spread and plenty of sprinkles, the children followed simple recipe cards to complete each step. It was a fun and tasty way to practise reading instructions and working independently. ๐Ÿซ๐Ÿฅ„

Celebrating Diwali with Creativity and Fun! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿช”

This week in Nuesery, we embraced the vibrant spirit of Diwali, the Festival of Lights, through a series of engaging activities that highlighted our fine motor skills and creativity!

โœจ Crafting Diwali Lamps:
We began by tearing colourful paper to decorate beautiful lamps, fostering our dexterity and creativity. Each lamp reflected the joy of the festival!

๐ŸŒˆ Creating Rangoli Patterns:
Next, we used colourful rice to design stunning rangoli patterns. This traditional art form not only enhanced our artistic skills but also taught us about the cultural significance behind these beautiful designs.

๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ Mendhi Pattern Practice:
Using writing patterns, we created intricate mehndi designs on hands. This activity was perfect for fine motor development while celebrating the beauty of this traditional art.

๐Ÿ’ƒ Dancing to Indian Music:
As the grand finale, we danced to lively Indian music, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the festive mood and connect with the cultural heritage of Diwali! We used our 'flappers' and bells, shakers as we danced.

We're so proud of our Children  for their creativity and teamwork!

What an exciting day we had in Nursery for our very first European Languages Day! ๐ŸŒโœจ This year, we immersed ourselves in the vibrant culture of Spain, exploring its language, customs, and delicious cuisine!

๐ŸŽจ Creative Activities
Our young learners showcased their fine motor skills by tearing red and yellow paper to create the iconic Spanish flag.

๐Ÿ”” Making Music
We also crafted rhythm instruments by making castanets from recyclable materials. They made a wonderful sound.

๐Ÿ’ƒ Spanish Fiesta
The day wouldn’t be complete without some lively dancing! The children danced to energetic Spanish music, bringing a festive atmosphere to our classroom.

๐Ÿฅ˜ Culinary Delights
To top it all off, we made authentic Spanish tortilla and refreshing Sangria (non-alcoholic of course!). We ate Spanish olives and cheese and bread. Everyone loved tasting the flavours of Spain, making it a truly immersive experience!
