Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Croeso nôl! Welcome back!

I hope you all had a wonderful break over the Christmas holidays. We are due a very busy term this Spring! 

Our overarching school topic is 'Our Wonderful World', as a Class we will focus on 'Cardiff Tales' which will include learning about our Capital City and our locality, then we will be blasting off to space to focus on 'Moon Zoom' where we will study our Solar System.

We will also learn about and celebrate the Lunar and Chinese New Year, ‘St Dwynwen’s Day’, ‘One World Day’, ‘World Book Day’, ‘St David’s Day’ and ‘Red Nose Day’. The children will also learn about the Christian celebration of Easter.

A few reminders that contribute significantly to your child’s school progress;

• Reading Together: Your involvement in your child’s reading is invaluable. As you are aware Mrs Bennetts and I read with each child individually throughout the weeks. The growth in confidence and fluency has already been noted in these first couple weeks! Kindly continue to read with your children and record these moments in the Reading Record. This shared experience fosters a love for reading and learning.
• Class Updates on Bryn Deri School Website: A new termly letter has been posted on our Class Page. Please check for important dates for the diary, updates on your child’s learning and any additional resources that may support any at home learning. 
• Preparation for Eisteddfod; The Eisteddfod is an exciting opportunity for the pupils to showcase their talents and immerse themselves in their Welsh culture. Soon we will be practising our allocated class song and poem. Over the half term break it would be very beneficial for the children to practise their Welsh whenever possible. Thank you for your continued support.
• Handwriting, Key Words and Formation: Continued support with handwriting, key words and letter and number formation is so important. Any support at home reinforces what is being taught in the classroom which in turn contributes to your child’s overall progress and confidence.
